SHEAR Studio opened in 2012 on High Street with a single chair, a secondhand mirror, and an obsession with technique. Founder and head stylist Sophie Chen had just returned from three years training at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London and Los Angeles, and she wanted to build a salon that put skill and education above everything.
Over the following decade, the team grew one carefully chosen stylist at a time. Every hire was made for talent and curiosity rather than availability. Today we have eight stylists, each a specialist in their own right.
The chair count has grown from one to twelve, but the ethos has never changed: every client leaves with hair that genuinely suits them, and every stylist leaves at the end of the day having learned something new.
